As the video mentions, the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS) supported the establishment of a national registry in which five academic research centers compiled information on those with Alopecia Areata and their families as one of many tools now being used to further research the causes and genetic underpinnings of the disease.
